The City of Midfield was founded in 1928 and is located in west-central Jefferson County, just south of Interstate 20/59. With a population of just over 5,000 residents, Midfield has maintained a stable community for the past several decades. Although it is the geographically smallest city within the Merit System at just 2.6 square miles, it ranks as the third most densely populated. Midfield has a rich history and is home to several historic landmarks, including the Midfield Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The City also features Midfield City Park, offering a playground, basketball court, and walking trail, as well as the Midfield Community Center, which hosts events and activities for all ages throughout the year.  With its strong community spirit and central location in the Birmingham metropolitan area, Midfield offers both historical character and convenient access to regional amenities.
