Fultondale is located in central Jefferson County along Interstate 65 and Highway 31. Founded in the late 1800s as Fulton Springs, the community was incorporated in 1947 as the City of Fultondale. Experiencing nearly 40% population growth since 2005, the City is now home to just under 10,000 residents within its 12.2 square mile boundaries. Despite this growth, Fultondale has maintained its commitment to its nickname, “The Friendly City,” a quality that visitors and locals alike experience in daily interactions with its welcoming citizens. The City is home to several parks and recreational areas, including Black Creek Park and Fultondale City Park, as well as a growing number of both local and national restaurants and retail shops. With its family-friendly environment, strong community spirit, and convenient access to the greater Birmingham area, Fultondale continues to grow while preserving the values that have long defined its character.
