The Jefferson County Department of Health is seeking a well-qualified Public Health Coordinator to perform advanced professional public health work involving the coordination, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of population health programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include providing technical and administrative leadership for programs related to maternal and child health, injury prevention, emergency preparedness, chronic disease prevention, social services, and other public health priorities. The position also oversees data collection and analysis, program and grant administration, mobile health unit operations, staff training, policy implementation, and collaboration with community partners to support evidence-based public health practices and improve community health outcomes.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Driver’s license.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Health Informatics, Health Administration, Community Health, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Experience coordinating programs, projects, or initiatives in public health, health education, social services, or a related area.
Experience leading data analysis, program evaluation, or similar quality improvement analysis.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Prepares, monitors, and administers program and grant budgets by reviewing expenditure reports, analyzing financial data, applying fiscal policies and grant requirements, and ensuring expenditures remain within approved budgetary limits.
Performs administrative and program support functions by maintaining records, collecting and entering data, reviewing reports, processing documentation, reviewing contracts, and following established procedures to ensure accurate and current program files.
Leads complex data collection and analysis initiatives by utilizing public health databases, statistical methods, predictive modeling techniques, and reporting tools in accordance with established analytical standards to support strategic planning and program decision-making.
Develops specialized reports and recommendations related to population health programs by interpreting quantitative and qualitative data, identifying trends, and communicating findings to support divisional strategies and interventions.
Directs the application of administrative and analytical methods within public health programs by utilizing established policies, procedures, and professional practices to support effective program implementation and service delivery.
Coordinates activities associated with maternal and child health, injury prevention, emergency response and preparedness, social services, public health initiatives, and other population health priorities by collaborating with stakeholders and applying program requirements to achieve established objectives.
Provides training to newly hired Public Health Specialists by utilizing instructional materials, electronic record systems, and program procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines to support employee onboarding and development.
Provides ongoing technical assistance to Public Health Specialists by reviewing procedures, answering operational questions, and applying program requirements to promote consistency and effectiveness in program operations.
Educates community members, healthcare providers, partner organizations, and other stakeholders regarding chronic diseases, injury prevention, maternal and child health, and emergency preparedness by utilizing presentations, educational materials, professional guidance, and medical literature to increase awareness and encourage healthy behaviors.
Coordinates community-based educational events by establishing partnerships with community stakeholders, obtaining necessary supplies and resources, coordinating staffing activities, and following program objectives to support public health outreach efforts.
Monitors operations and service delivery at community-based events by evaluating workflows, observing activities, and applying quality standards to ensure effective program implementation and customer service.
Assists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices by reviewing operational needs, evaluating program activities, and recommending improvements to support organizational effectiveness.
Collaborates with governmental agencies, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, community groups, and other stakeholders by exchanging information and coordinating activities to support public health initiatives and service delivery.
Monitors program performance and outcomes by reviewing data, evaluating trends, and applying established performance measures to support continuous quality improvement efforts.
Participates in professional development activities by attending training programs, reviewing professional literature, and monitoring changes in public health laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines to maintain current knowledge and enhance program effectiveness.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job involves moderate physical exertion required for occasional periods of standing, walking, lifting, carrying, balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve occasional light lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
