JOB SUMMARY:

This job is not part of the Merit System and, therefore, is neither subject to the Rules & Regulations of the Personnel Board nor provided the rights of a Merit System.

Reset Jefferson County diverts people out of jails and prisons with a proportionate, effective, and meaningful response to low-level offending. Through Reset, participants avoid a criminal record by completing community-based program requirements. The approach holds people accountable for their actions, strengthens public trust in the justice system, and creates opportunities for young, low-level offenders to move forward without the lifetime impediment of a felony conviction.
Reporting to the Reset Director, the Reset Coordinator will share strategic and operational responsibility for Reset programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. Employee exercises considerable independent judgement in performance of duties.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $48,000-$52,000 yearly

Essential Functions:

Working with Program Participants

  • Effectively manage operations, including outreach, intake, scheduling, use of program space, and completion.
  • Contact potential participants (via phone and mail) to schedule them for programming and conduct an initial intake/screening.
  • Determine whether a potential participant is suitable for group-based work or merits additional screening and/or individual counseling.
  • Explain program requirements and expectations to participants.
  • Complete rescheduling of services for participants both in person and by phone.
  • Contact participants to remind them of upcoming dates/programs and encourage attendance.
  • Maintain organized records of outreach attempts, program attendance, completion, and other project details.
  • Conduct follow up with participants to provide voluntary social service and educational referrals, where appropriate.
  • Provide case management services to program participants that address issues such as substance use, mental health, trauma, and educational and vocational needs.
  • Prepare and circulate certificates of program completion.
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and troubleshoot emerging issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver better support for participants.

Working with Community Partners

  • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with stakeholders and a positive program reputation in the community.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community-based agencies that provide voluntary services to participants.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain an electronic database and maintain accurate records.
  • Contact victims in Reset cases and arresting agencies to explain Reset procedures and gain consent for participation on behalf of qualified individuals.
  • Conference with DDAs, judges, and defense attorneys regarding participant’s progress in the program.
  • File motions on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office regarding participation and program completion for participants.
  • Follow protocols regarding eligibility, including screening potential participants through databases for all criminal history.
  • Maintain physical files for each participant with necessary program documents.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are consistent with all laws and other initiatives of the DA’s Office.

Knowledge-Skills:

  • Knowledge of the adult and juvenile criminal justice systems.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures.
  • Ability to develop goals, objectives, policies and procedures as needed.
  • Knowledge of community based social services.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, law enforcement, and social services agency personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare records to identify problems, actions taken, and disposition of case.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to a program budget.
  • Ability to prepare reports and other written communication utilizing databases, spreadsheets, publication software and word processing software.
  • Ability to drive an automobile.

License/Certification Required:

  • Valid driver's license.

Qualifications:

  • A combination of bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 3-5 years of experience indicative of the ability to accomplish program goals is acceptable.
  • Expertise in managing operations or logistics is preferred as well as working directly with system-impacted people.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally competent manner.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook).
  • No felony convictions.
  • No misdemeanor convictions related to victimization, abuse, or moral turpitude (e.g., domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, animal abuse, theft, assault).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally performed in an office setting or at community provider facility and exposes employees to everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions. The position is full-time and requires some weekend and/or evening hours.
